Assam: Cattle mafia embarks on new route for cow smuggling via Arunachal Trans Highway, 6 apprehended

Arunachal Police along with Tangsa Youth in collaboration with India TodayNE journalist initiative, revealed the new road map used by cattle smugglers to smuggle cattle from Assam using Arunachal Trans Highway for transit.

According to the new road map, the cattle smugglers first collect cattle at Kharsang from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh, then cross the Jagun border and cross the Nagaland border via Jairampur, Manmo, Changlang, Khonsa.

A total of 6 cattle smugglers were apprehended along with three vehicles bearing registration numbers AS 23 BC, AS 03 CC 3103 and AS 03 CC 3930 were seized by the police team on September 4. 

The arrested persons have been identified as Lambudhar Neog, Sunil Doley, Ratneswar Patir, Rupendar Morang, Umar Farooq, Anwar Hussain.

A search operation was conducted after receiving inputs of the cattle smugglers trying to dispatch 18 cattles in three vehicles to Mon in Nagaland through this new route. But the Jairampur police and the journalist team succeeded in apprehending the smugglers and recovered the smuggle cattle along with the cattle loading vehicles.
