Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha Nagaon unit extends support to Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of Assembly polls
The Nagaon district unit of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha has announced its support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2026.
The decision comes in support of tea garden workers from 44 tea estates in Nagaon district. The organisation stated that it will actively assist BJP and its alliance partners during the elections.
The union has specifically extended support to NDA candidate Keshab Mahanta from Kaliabor constituency and Jitu Goswami from Barhampur constituency, pledging to work towards their victory.
According to the union, the decision was influenced by welfare measures undertaken by the alliance government for tea garden workers, including distribution of land pattas, a one-time financial assistance of Rs 5,000, and an increase in wages.
Nagaon district committee president Bindu Ganju made the announcement at an event in Kaliabor, expressing satisfaction over the government’s initiatives and assuring full support to the alliance candidates in the upcoming polls.
