Assam CM addresses Golakganj ‘Vijay Sankalpa Sabha’ via phone amid bad weather
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a ‘Vijay Sankalpa Sabha’ in Golakganj over the phone on March 28, after inclement weather forced the cancellation of his scheduled visit.
The rally, held at Dhepdhepi playground under the Golakganj assembly constituency, was organised in support of BJP candidate Ashwini Roy Sarkar.
Despite heavy rain and unfavourable weather conditions preventing the Chief Minister’s helicopter from landing, thousands of supporters gathered at the venue from early morning, showcasing strong enthusiasm.
Not wanting to disappoint the crowd, Sarma addressed the gathering via phone, with his message relayed through loudspeakers. He apologised for his absence and urged voters to ensure victory for Ashwini Roy Sarkar, while highlighting the BJP’s development agenda for the Dhubri district.
Party leaders termed the telephonic outreach a successful alternative, noting that the Chief Minister’s effort to connect with supporters, despite logistical challenges, further energized party workers ahead of the elections.
The event concluded with local leaders reaffirming their commitment to the campaign as rain continued to lash the area.
