Spread over 15 bighas, the facility is the largest project undertaken by the Margherita Municipal Board. It has been built with a budget of ₹6 crore and can process up to 50 tonnes of waste per day. Currently, around 10 tonnes of garbage are dumped regularly at the site. The project will cater to 10 wards under the Margherita Municipal Board and nearby Gaon Panchayats of the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly constituency.

Chairman Anand Kumar Sharma described the project as a “dream initiative” of the BJP-led Assam Government, adding that it would not only provide a structured dumping ground but also ensure cleaner surroundings and better waste management for the region.

The new facility is expected to significantly improve sanitation infrastructure in Margherita and boost sustainable waste management practices in the district.
