Assam CM unveils plan for electronics manufacturing city in Jagiroad, promises multi-tier incentives

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 26 announced the establishment of a dedicated electronics manufacturing city in Jagiroad. The facility, to be named Ratan Tata Electronics Manufacturing City, will be developed in the vicinity of the existing Tata Industries setup.

Highlighting Assam’s growing potential as an industrial hub, the Chief Minister emphasized that any company setting up an electronic component manufacturing unit in the state will be eligible for multiple layers of government incentives. These include benefits under the Central Government’s Electronic Component Manufacturing Policy, the Assam Government’s policy, and the North East Region-specific policy spearheaded by the Government of India.

"This is a strategic step towards integrating Assam into the national and global electronics supply chain," CM Sarma stated. He further underscored the government’s commitment to creating a robust ecosystem to attract high-end electronic manufacturing industries to the region.

The proposed manufacturing city is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, boost regional development, and position Assam as a key player in India’s electronics production roadmap.
