Assam CM unveils plan to upgrade Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Tirtha

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 11 unveiled a comprehensive roadmap to transform Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Tirtha at Jalukbari into a more immersive cultural destination celebrating the life and legacy of the legendary artist.

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister announced that the memorial will be upgraded with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)-powered interactive experiences, allowing visitors to explore Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's contributions through modern technology.

As part of the initiative, the government will also introduce digital platforms aimed at inspiring younger generations through the works and legacy of Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.

The redevelopment plan includes the construction of an open-air cultural stage to host performances and cultural events, while a dedicated government committee will be constituted to organise year-round programmes for the promotion of Assam's cultural heritage.

The Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at preserving and showcasing the legacy of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika while creating a vibrant cultural hub for artists, visitors and future generations.
