Assam: Congress delegation submits memorandum to Dhubri DC, seeks rehabilitation for eviction-hit families

A four-member Congress delegation, led by Assam Assembly Leader of the Opposition Wazed Ali Choudhury, met Dhubri District Commissioner on Saturday, November 7 and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate relief and rehabilitation for families displaced during a recent eviction drive in the district.

The delegation raised concerns over the eviction exercise carried out by the district administration in the Alamganj Part-IX area of Dhubri district and urged the authorities to take steps to ensure rehabilitation of the affected families.

The Congress legislators also called on the administration to protect and preserve local graveyards and mazars (shrines) located within the evicted area.

Speaking to the media after submitting the memorandum, Choudhury accused the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) of spreading misinformation about the Congress in areas affected by the eviction drive.

He said the Congress and its workers stood with the displaced families and would continue to raise their concerns to ensure justice for them.

The four-member delegation comprised Wazed Ali Choudhury, MLA from Birsing Jarua and Leader of the Opposition; Abdus Sobhan Ali Sarkar, MLA from Gauripur; Baby Begum, MLA from Dhubri; and Ashraful Islam Sheikh, MLA from Parbatjhora.
