Assam: Congress faces internal dissent in Binnakandi Assembly constituency
A wave of strong dissatisfaction has emerged within the Congress in the Binnakandi Assembly constituency, of Assam's Cachar district, as local party workers voiced sharp criticism over recent organisational decisions.
Supporters of Congress ticket aspirant Rehan Uddin openly expressed their displeasure before the media, targeting senior party leader Rakibul Hussain. The workers alleged that the decision to leave the Binnakandi seat for the AIUDF has weakened the local Congress structure.
They further accused the party of indirectly supporting AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal, a claim that has intensified tensions within the constituency unit. The aggrieved workers urged the party’s central leadership to reconsider the decision and officially field a Congress candidate from Binnakandi.
The development signals growing unrest at the grassroots level ahead of the elections, with local leaders demanding immediate intervention from the high command.
