Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupen Borah reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s future during the nomination submission for Congress candidate Birajen Jit Sinha in the Bongaigaon Assembly by-election. The event, attended by a significant gathering of supporters, was marked by Borah’s strong remarks regarding internal party dynamics and the opposition's leadership challenges.
In a direct response to criticisms from former Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora, who suggested that multiple Congress leaders are vying for the Chief Ministerial position, Borah said, “Atul Bora has ended the AGP party. If he can, let him say that Atul Bora will be the Chief Minister.”
Borah expressed confidence in the party's strategy, announcing plans to visit Behali to discuss the candidacy of Bibek Das for the 2026 elections. He assured supporters that he would communicate this decision, emphasizing the importance of unity and clarity in leadership roles within the Congress.
Earlier in the day, Borah took to social media platform X to highlight the overwhelming support for Sinha, stating, “Today, I, along with Sri Pradyut Bordoloi MP, MLAs, APCC, DCC, BCC, frontal office bearers, and many local leaders attended the nomination filing of the @INCAssam candidate for the Bye-election in Bongaigaon LAC, Birajen Jit Sinha. I was inspired and delighted to see the huge turnout of more than 5,000 supporters in his favour.”
