Assam: Congress ramps up campaign for Rabha Hasong Council polls, Bhupen Borah leads Bongaon rally

With the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council election set to take place on April 2, political momentum has surged across the region. As the ruling BJP and opposition parties escalate their campaigns, the Congress party has also intensified efforts to secure electoral success.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Kumar Borah led a campaign in Bongaon, South Kamrup, urging voters to back Congress candidates. Speaking at a rally held at the Bongaon Block Congress office, Borah underscored the historical contributions of the late Hiteswar Saikia, former Chief Minister of Assam, who in 1995 initiated the formation of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council to ensure economic, linguistic, and cultural development of the Rabha community.

Borah took a strong stance against the BJP government, calling upon Congress workers to engage in vigorous door-to-door outreach to maximize support for party candidates.

Adding to the momentum, MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed, who was present at the event, stressed the importance of preserving the identity and heritage of the Rabha Hasong community. Kamrup District Congress President Kangkan Das also delivered a speech, rallying support for the party’s vision.
