Assam Congress united, BJP should worry about its own MLAs: Rakibul Hussain
Congress MP Rakibul Hussain on May 2 asserted that the party and its alliance partners were united in Assam, while taking a swipe at the BJP ahead of the announcement of election results.
“We are united. They should worry about where the people of Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Dilip Saikia are kept,” Hussain said while speaking to reporters.
Expressing confidence over the outcome, the Congress leader said the opposition camp was not concerned and would remain calm until the results were declared.
“We are confident. We will stay at home. We will go to the Governor’s house when needed,” he added, indicating that the party expected to stake claim to form the government if numbers favoured the opposition alliance.
The remarks came amid heightened political activity in Assam as parties prepared for the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
