Continuing its relentless efforts and crackdown on illegal drugs trafficking, Assam Police on February 3 seized contraband worth Rs 7 crore in Karimganj.
Acting on a tip-off, Karimganj Superintenent of Police Partha Pratim Das along leading a police team conducted a search operation during a Naka checking in Sargola area of Karimganj.
A DI vehicle bearing registration number MZ 04 A 4827 was intercepted following which 55 packets of heroin was reocvered from the secret chamber of the vehicle after search.
The police arrested one drug peddler identified as Christopher Joshuaana who upon interrogation revealed that he hailed from Champai in Mizoram.
The drug peddler has been taken into custody and further probe into the incident is underway for any linkages.
