Assam couple who went to Chennai for work return home in coffins, children left orphaned

A couple from Assam's Nagaon district, who had migrated to Chennai nearly a year ago in search of employment, have died under circumstances that have raised suspicions of foul play, leaving their two young children orphaned.

Nizam Uddin and his wife, Masuma Khatun, were residents of Chaurapara in Dhaniabheti village under Batadrava. The couple had travelled to Chennai to earn a living but their bodies were brought back to their native village instead of returning home to their children.

The couple's deaths have triggered concern among villagers, who suspect that they may have been murdered as part of a planned conspiracy. They have also raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the deaths and demanded a thorough investigation.

Following the intervention of the Nagaon district administration and Batadrava Police, the couple's bodies were brought back to Assam under the state government's Shraddhanjali scheme.

Villagers have urged the authorities to identify those responsible for the deaths and ensure strict action against them. They have also called for a detailed probe into the incident.

The couple's two young children are now left without parental care, with villagers expressing concern over their future.
