Assam: CWG gold medallist Nayanmoni Saikia flags off NCC's vigorous car rally in Rangia
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) marked 75 years of distinguished service with a vigorous North Eastern Region Car Rally. Major General Gagan Deep interacted with 401 cadets, comprising of army and air force, at a significant pit stop at Rangia College, Kamrup district.
He underscored the rally's primary aim - fostering camaraderie, leadership, sportsmanship, adventure, and patriotism among the youth, while preserving the NCC's prized values. Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Nayanmoni Saikia initiated the Rangia leg of the rally at an event at Rangia College on November 22.
Saikia acknowledged the NCC's crucial role in nation-building and the youth's key role in determining the nation's future. ADG Gagan Deep not only recognised but also praised the NCC's persistent contribution to nation-building.
The rally which started on November 6 has so far travelled to 277 schools, 151 colleges, and 44 districts, spanning six states and would culminate on November 26 next, an official communique said here on Tuesday.
Led by additional director general of NCC, Maj Gen Gagan Deep, the rally reached Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh on November 19, where it was welcomed at the Tawang War Memorial by Brigadier V S Rajput, Commander of Tawang Brigade.
The participants paid homage to Jaswant Singh Rawat, a hero of the 1962 Indo-Sino war, at Jaswant Garh in the border district before reaching the memorial.
