Assam: Cylinder explosion in Sribhumi leaves 20 injured, critical victims shifted to Silchar Medical College

An explosion triggered by a leaking LPG cylinder created panic in the Charbazar area of Sribhumi late November 26 night, leaving nearly 20 people severely injured. The blast, followed by a fire, occurred at the residence of a local resident, identified as Munna Kurmi on Wednesday.

Emergency response teams and locals rushed the injured to the Sribhumi Civil Hospital. However, due to the critical condition of several victims, they were immediately referred to Silchar Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.

Meanwhile, local residents have raised serious concerns regarding the preparedness of the Sribhumi Civil Hospital. They alleged that the hospital lacked essential medical facilities, forcing families to procure necessary supplies from outside.

Locals expressed strong resentment and demanded urgent improvement in healthcare infrastructure to manage such emergencies in the future.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the LPG leak and the extent of property damage from the blast.
