Assam deputy speaker condemns "selective Hindu" killings in Pahalgam terror attack

Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and senior BJP leader Dr Numal Momin condemned the recent terror attack in J&K's Pahalgam, raising concerns over civilians being allegedly targeted based on their religion.

Expressing his shock and grief, Dr. Momin stated, “I am speechless. I don’t have the words to condemn this heinous act. The terrorists asked people their religion and selectively killed Hindus. This clearly shows that Hindus in J&K are not safe, and the attackers wanted to prove that.”

He further alleged that the attack appeared to be sponsored by Pakistan. “Pakistan has always tried to destabilise India. Every time they fail, they attempt such attacks again. They are unhappy with India’s economic growth and the peaceful atmosphere prevailing under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi,” he said.

Highlighting the government's prompt response, Dr. Momin noted that Prime Minister Modi is deeply concerned about the situation and has already instructed Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit the region.

“The government is taking this seriously. PM Modi is committed to peace in Jammu & Kashmir, and terrorists must be taught a lesson. We must take decisive action to ensure such attacks do not happen again,” he added.

He concluded by offering prayers for the departed souls and expressing confidence in the Indian government’s resolve to respond with firmness and compassion.
