Assam: Development schemes begin in Boko under RHAC’s 2024-25 financial year

Development schemes have been initiated in various council constituencies using funds from the 2024-25 financial year of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC).

It is noteworthy that Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced that the RHAC elections will be held in March, before Rongali Bihu.

To accelerate development in villages under RHAC, councillors have launched multiple schemes. Among them, the construction of a football playground with iron posts has commenced in 2 No. Jarapara-Kacharipara village under 27 No. Boko Council Constituency (CC), led by Sumit Rabha, executive councillor of RHAC.

At the inauguration of the development project, Sumit Rabha stated, "We have initiated several development works in various villages under the Boko Council Constituency using funds from the RHAC’s 2024-25 financial year. As RHAC elections are scheduled for March, we launched these schemes on February 2 to ensure their continuity despite the election process."

Rabha further added, "We gained the Council in 2013, and since then, we have been striving to address people's needs through RHAC funds. While we have resolved several issues, there is still much work to be done in RHAC villages."

Meanwhile, Arjun Chetry, General Councilor of Jongakhuli CC, highlighted that despite India’s independence, villages in the region had seen minimal development. However, since RHAC’s formation in 2013, numerous development schemes have been implemented in these areas.

Parallel to Boko CC, Arjun Chetry also launched several projects under Jongakhuli CC using RHAC’s 2024-25 funds. These include the construction of the Maitri Janajatiya Mahila Committee office boundary wall and gate, along with other development initiatives in various villages.

The event saw participation from several dignitaries, including Ankur Kakoti, Organizing Secretary of ARSU (All Rabha Students' Union) Kamrup District, Sujit Rabha, President of ARSU Boko Regional Committee, and Dibya Rabha, Secretary of ARSU Boko Regional Committee, along with local villagers.
