In a major crackdown on suspected tax evasion, a massive team from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) conducted a raid on the coal market in Jogighopa, Bongaigaon.
More than 80 coal-laden trucks were seized during the operation, as a 30-member team of the department inspected documents to verify the legitimacy of the consignments.
Most of the trucks reportedly failed to produce proper documentation.

The raid also extended to the residence of Shahidul Islam alias Garo, a local businessman who is currently absconding. Shahidul Islam has been previously accused in a GST fraud case, raising suspicions of his involvement in the illegal coal trade.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further action is expected against those found violating GST norms.
