Assam: DGP Harmeet Singh conducts comprehensive review of Barak Valley Police, emphasizes on community-centric policing

Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh visited Badarpur today, September 4, to hold an extensive review meeting with senior police officials of the Barak Valley.

On his arrival, DGP Singh was accorded a formal felicitation by local authorities. He later participated in a detailed review meeting with the DIG of Barak Valley, the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi districts, and officers from all local police stations.

The meeting focused on evaluating the overall operational efficiency of the police departments in the three districts. Specific areas of review included adoption of green technology, daily administrative routines, public relations initiatives, and the performance of individual police stations.

Speaking to the media, DGP Singh emphasized that the Assam Police must evolve beyond being merely a law enforcement body and should be regarded as a public service organization dedicated to serving the community.

The DGP’s visit is part of a two-day tour of the Barak Valley, aimed at closely monitoring police performance and encouraging effective public engagement.
