Assam: Dhubri celebrates Mahalaya with grand Prabhat Pheri ahead of Durga Puja

Along with the rest of the country and state, Dhubri is fully prepared to welcome Goddess Durga. Marking the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, a vibrant Prabhat Pheri (early morning procession) was organised in Dhubri town under the initiative of the Dhubri Town Club.

The procession commenced around 5:30 AM accompanied by the chanting of sacred Chandi Path. Countless devotees and local residents joined the early morning rally, filling the streets of Dhubri with festive fervor and spiritual energy.

Speaking on the occasion, Shantanu Banik, Assistant Secretary of the Dhubri Town Club, highlighted the spiritual significance of the day. "Mahalaya marks the beginning of Debi Paksha and signals the descent of Goddess Durga to Earth. May Ma Durga destroy all evils and negativity, bringing peace and wellbeing. With the arrival of Goddess Dakshayini, a joyful and festive atmosphere has swept across the entire Dhubri region."

With the chanting of mantras and active participation from the community, Mahalaya has set a grand and blissful tone for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations in Dhubri.
