The historic Gurudwara in Assam's Dhubri observed the second day of its annual event on December 6, commemorating the 349th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru.
The celebrations began with the recitation of the Sukhmani Sahib Paath, offering prayers for universal peace and spiritual harmony, followed by the mesmerising Kirtan Sri Asa Di Vaar, where the hymns of Guru Nanak Dev Ji were sung with profound devotion.
A grand Kirtan Darbar was organised, featuring performances by prominent hymn-singing groups who captivated the congregation with their renditions of Gurbani. The highlight of the day was the vibrant Nagar Kirtan, a traditional religious procession that traversed the historic streets of Dhubri.
Devotees from various parts of the country and abroad joined the procession, carrying saffron flags, singing hymns, and spreading the message of unity, peace, and faith.
The streets were lined with onlookers who paid their respects and participated in the celebrations.
Speaking about the event, Sardar Daljit Singh Sethi, President of the Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone, emphasised the significance of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji’s martyrdom, which symbolizes the ultimate sacrifice for religious freedom and human rights. "This annual observance not only honors Guru Sahib’s legacy but also aims to inspire a spirit of compassion and communal harmony," he said.
The event concluded with prayers for global peace and the well-being of humanity, reinforcing the teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The annual celebrations at the Gurudwara continue to draw devotees and visitors, serving as a beacon of spiritual and cultural heritage in Dhubri.
