Assam: Dhubri witness peaceful postal ballot voting ahead of Lok Sabha elections

Dhubri district in Assam marked a significant milestone in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections as it conducted a peaceful round of postal balloting for the first phase voters. The successful exercise, held on Sunday, involved police personnel and employees from various government departments exercising their democratic rights through the postal ballot system.

The Dhubri Police Reserve Auditorium served as the designated voting venue for Assam Police officials, while administrative officers and government employees cast their votes at Dhubri BN College. This strategic arrangement ensured convenience and efficiency in the voting process.

According to District Election Officer Masi Topna, a total of 102 electors participated in the postal balloting at the police reserve auditorium, while Dhubri BN College saw a turnout of 20 voters. This active participation from district officials underscores their commitment to the electoral process despite their usual engagement in election duties on polling day.

Masi Topna expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the postal balloting, noting the absence of any untoward incidents during the process. The peaceful and orderly nature of the postal balloting sets a positive tone for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19th, reflecting the democratic spirit and civic engagement in Dhubri district.
