Assam: Dhubri's 12-lakh voters gear up for high-stakes poll battle amid riverine challenges

Dhubri district's 12,20,384 voters—updated via the ERONet figures on March 15, 2026—hold the key to the fate of 33 candidates across five fiercely contested assembly seats in the ongoing Assam elections.

Election officials have rolled out 1,548 polling stations to cover every corner, from bustling towns to far-flung river islands. The district's tricky terrain, dominated by the Brahmaputra, demands creative solutions: 285 stations sit on remote 'char' areas, reachable only by boat.

A dedicated fleet now ferries polling teams, security forces, and EVMs to these spots, keeping the entire schedule on track.

Administrators have also prioritised women voters with 26 all-female-staffed stations, alongside 1,522 managed by men, boosting accessibility and inclusivity.

The constituencies—Dhubri, Gauripur, Golakganj, Birsing Jarua, and Bilasipara—brim with campaign energy. Yet, the real story unfolds on the water, where teams navigate swirling currents to secure every ballot. District authorities maintain round-the-clock vigilance over these river transits, underscoring their commitment to a flawless democratic exercise.

This battleground could sway Assam's political balance, as voters brave the floods and ferries to shape the future.
