Assam: Dilapidated road in Abhayapuri’s Rupnagar turns daily commute into ordeal for locals

Residents of Rupnagar, located in Ward No. 7 under the Abhayapuri Municipal Board, continue to suffer due to the deplorable condition of a key roadway that has remained neglected for years. The situation worsens drastically during the rainy season, turning the stretch into a muddy, waterlogged path, causing immense hardship to hundreds of daily commuters.

For students, elderly residents, and daily wage workers, even a single downpour makes the road nearly impassable. Locals liken their daily experience to a “journey through hell,” highlighting the severity of the issue.

Despite numerous appeals and written requests submitted to the Abhayapuri Municipality, the road remains in a crumbling state. Residents allege that their grievances have been consistently ignored, raising serious concerns about administrative apathy and infrastructure neglect in the region.

The road in question serves as a primary route for over a hundred people daily, making its maintenance crucial to the area’s accessibility and quality of life. Local voices continue to grow louder, demanding urgent intervention and long-overdue action from municipal authorities.
