Assam: Dimasa leaders seek action on long-pending welfare, development issues

A meeting of the Dimasa community at Borlangpher on Monday, August 24, called for immediate government intervention to resolve a range of long-pending issues affecting Dimasa people across parts of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong, with former Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) chairman Dilip Nunisa and Dimasa Peoples’ Council (DPC) leader Rohit Daulagupu joining the demand.

The meeting discussed the concerns of Dimasa people living in Raijaodisa, Pathargaon, Hojai Pur and Borlangfar, as well as those residing in different areas along the Lamding–Diphu road in Karbi Anglong district.

Nunisa and Daulagupu urged the Assam government and concerned authorities to give the issues immediate attention and take concrete steps towards their resolution.

Nunisa said the genuine demands and concerns of the Dimasa community should be properly reviewed and addressed in a timely manner.

He also stressed the need for continued government intervention and support to safeguard the interests of the community and ensure its socio-economic development, welfare and progress.

The leaders called on the government to consider the concerns seriously and initiate effective measures at the earliest.

The meeting comes amid continued demands from Dimasa community representatives for greater attention to long-standing issues affecting their settlements and socio-economic well-being across the region.
