Allegations of police brutality surfaced in Sulung on Sunday as BJP workers were reportedly lathicharged without provocation. The incident unfolded at the BJP election office in Barghuli market, leading to uproar and accusations against the police.
According to eyewitness accounts, Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Sulung police patrol station allegedly led the charge. BJP supporters claim that Rangpi appeared to be in an inebriated state during the altercation.
The sequence of events began when a police-paramilitary team arrived at Barghuli to address an unrelated matter. However, upon encountering a gathering of people outside the BJP's election office, tensions escalated rapidly. Without warning, the police resorted to a lathi charge, leaving several individuals injured.
The Nagaon Superintendent of Police has recently reserved accommodation for ASI Racing Rangpi, further fueling speculation about possible biases within the police force.
