In the wake of the mysterious death of Banasmita Buragohain, a young woman from Duliajan, Raju Riyaz, the owner of the training center where she was reportedly undergoing beauty pageantry training, has come forward to clarify his involvement.
Banasmita's body was found in a rented house near Down Town in Guwahati, and her death has prompted a police investigation.
Raju Riyaz, whose training center was named in connection with Banasmita's activities in Guwahati, expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident. "I am deeply saddened by the death of the girl, but I do not know her personally," he stated.
Riyaz emphasized that his parlor specializes only in hair-cutting training and does not offer courses in make-up or beautician skills. "In that case, I don't know how my name came about," he added.
Riyaz further explained that while he attends many seminars where he may meet individuals from various institutes, he has no specific recollection of Banasmita.
"Some also come from institutes, but I don't know personally," he clarified, adding that there is no information indicating that Banasmita had ever worked at his parlor.
The case took another turn when Bhanu Riyaj's name also surfaced in the investigation. However, details about Bhanu Riyaj's connection to Banasmita's death remain unclear. Meanwhile, the police continue their investigation, gathering evidence and interviewing individuals who might have interacted with Banasmita in her final days.
Riyaz expressed his frustration over the defamation he has faced due to this incident. "I've been falsely defamed," he asserted, distancing himself and his business from the circumstances surrounding Banasmita's death.
As the investigation proceeds, Banasmita's family, who have accused a youth named Rahul Ali of being involved in her death, are seeking justice. Her father has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Rahul, urging the authorities to explore all possible leads and bring the responsible parties to justice.
