Assam: Electricity department worker electrocuted in Hojai

A tragic incident unfolded near Tara Mill in Hojai's new market area where an employee of the electricity department was electrocuted while on duty. The event which occurred as the worker attempted to restore power after a tree had fallen has stirred unrest in the local community.

According to eyewitnesses, the worker, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered an electric shock while attempting to provide electricity connections in the aftermath of a fallen tree incident. The individual was left hanging from an electric pole for approximately 15-20 minutes before being rescued.

"A worker of electricity got electrocuted," expressed a local resident. "Yesterday, a tree uprooted and fell, so to give connection he was electrocuted, and now the person is taken to the hospital. He is doing movement; he was there hanging for 15-20 minutes. The reason behind may be earthing."

The victim's condition remains uncertain, as the extent of injuries sustained during the electrocution is yet to be determined. Prompt action from both local residents and the electricity department led to the swift rescue of the injured worker, who was subsequently rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
