Assam extends visiting hours at Zubeen Garg memorial site
The Assam Government has extended the visiting hours at Zubeen Kshetra, the memorial of legendary singer Zubeen Garg in Sonapur, by an hour till 11 PM, respecting the wishes of fans.
The decision comes after a request from the Zubeen Garg Fan Club, which had appealed to keep the memorial open until midnight.
While the government did not permit a full extension until 12 AM, it decided to keep the site open for visitors daily from 6 AM to 11 PM.
Officials clarified that individuals under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substances are strictly prohibited from entering or remaining on the premises. Consumption, serving, or distribution of alcohol has also been strictly banned inside and around the memorial grounds.

According to the District Magistrate’s office, these measures were implemented in consultation with local residents and stakeholders to preserve the sanctity of the cremation ground, which has become a place of pilgrimage for admirers mourning the loss of the iconic artist.
Authorities urged all visitors to respect the guidelines and cooperate in maintaining a peaceful and dignified atmosphere at Zubeen Kshetra, where countless fans continue to pay tribute to the beloved star.
