Assam family in dilapidated house awaits PMAY home, ration card

A family in Assam’s Kaliabor has been living in a dilapidated house for years, claiming they have been deprived of a home under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and other basic government welfare benefits.

Bachua Chauhan and his wife Rajani Chauhan, residents of Jawani village, live in the damaged structure with their children. The family says they have not received a house under PMAY despite their poor living conditions.

They also claim that they have not been able to obtain a ration card, leaving them without access to food security benefits.

The couple has been forced to continue living in the run-down house while struggling to make ends meet. The condition of the structure has further added to their difficulties, particularly during the monsoon.

The family has appealed to the authorities to look into their situation and provide them with a permanent house and access to government welfare schemes.
