Assam: Fire breaks out at Sribhumi Civil Hospital, AC malfunction suspected

A fire broke out on the premises of the Sribhumi Civil Hospital on Sunday, June 15 after an air-conditioning unit in one of the rooms of the Eye Department building suddenly caught fire, triggering panic among staff and visitors.

Thanks to the quick response from hospital staff and local residents, the flames were brought under control before they could spread and cause major damage. The hospital narrowly escaped a potential disaster.

Shortly afterward, the fire brigade arrived on the scene and extinguished the remaining fire using water jets. No injuries have been reported, and patients in the nearby wards were swiftly secured.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was likely triggered by a short circuit in the AC machine. Authorities have initiated a detailed inspection to assess the extent of the damage and prevent future incidents.
