Assam: Fire breaks out in Nagaon’s Rupohihat, vehicle and several shops gutted
A fire broke out at Roumari in Rupohihat area of Assam’s Nagaon district, gutting a four-wheeler, a motorcycle and several commercial shops, officials said.
The blaze reportedly originated at the residence of a man identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique. Several shops located in the vicinity were also engulfed in the fire, resulting in extensive damage to property and goods.
Property and commercial goods worth several lakhs of rupees were reportedly destroyed in the incident.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, although the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services reached the spot and launched operations to contain the blaze. Efforts to douse the flames were continuing at the time of filing this report.
The incident triggered panic among residents in the area, with emergency personnel working to prevent the fire from spreading further.
