Assam: Fire ravages Jorshimuli village in Boko, locals rally to rescue widow's home

A catastrophic fire ravaged through the  village of Jorshimuli, within the Chaygaon Legislative Assembly Constituency in Assam's Kamrup District on March 4. The conflagration erupted within the abode of Zarina Khatun, a widow residing in the Hanhchari village of Jorshimuli, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The blaze, which engulfed three residences belonging to Zarina Khatun, razed property estimated to be worth Rs 6/7 lakh to ashes, including invaluable family documents. Initial investigations suggest the inferno was sparked by a short circuit within the electrical system.

Local residents rallied together combating the flames to prevent further escalation of the disaster. They managed to douse the raging inferno, averting further tragedy and salvaging what remnants they could from the charred remains.
