Assam: Five NDFB leaders in judicial custody shifted to Chirang for peace accord deliberations

Five senior leaders of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), currently under judicial custody in the Guwahati Central Jail in connection with CBI cases, were brought to the Bodoland Guest House in Kajalgaon, Chirang, today.

The move is part of the ongoing dialogue between the Central Government, the Assam Government, and the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration regarding the withdrawal of cases against NDFB leaders and cadres following the peace accord. Notably, discussions are also underway to resolve all pending CBI and NIA cases through legal channels, including final resolutions in the Supreme Court.

The NDFB leaders brought to Chirang today include the outfit’s Vice President Rifikhang Goyari alias Rajen, Deputy Army Chief George Boro alias Jingkhang, Ajay Basumatary alias Augai, Khourangsar Basumatary alias Khargeswar, and Raju Sarkar. The leaders were transported under tight security and are currently lodged at the Bodoland Guest House.

Speaking on the occasion, Danshrung Narzary, Editor and representative of the Ex-NDFB Welfare Society, welcomed the move and emphasized the importance of resolving all pending issues through peaceful and legal means.
