Incessant rains have caused the Buri Dihing river to overflow, resulting in severe flooding across Margherita constituency no. 83. Various areas, including Margherita town, are now inundated, causing widespread disruption and distress.
One of the hardest-hit areas is Dihing Paria, located in ward no. 8 of Margherita municipality. The floods have affected 64 families residing in Ujani and Namni Dihing Paria, with water entering their homes and rendering the entire locality waterlogged.
In response to the crisis, Margherita municipality mayor Anand Kumar Sharma and Margherita sub-divisional assistant commissioner Pritam Gogoi visited the affected areas to assess the situation and understand the challenges faced by the residents.
To support the displaced families, relief camps have been established at multiple locations, including Margherita Town Primary School, to provide shelter and essential assistance to those affected by the floods.
