Assam: Floodwaters recede, but recovery remains slow in Jorhat's Alengmora as relief operations continue

Floodwaters have started receding gradually in the Alengmora area of Assam's Jorhat district, bringing partial relief to residents after days of inundation. However, the flood crisis continues, with several houses still submerged and many families struggling to return to normal life.

Although water levels have declined in parts of the area, large stretches remain waterlogged, leaving residents confined to their homes and disrupting access to essential services. Several families continue to face difficulties in commuting, procuring daily necessities, and reaching safer locations as stagnant water surrounds residential areas.

As the floodwaters recede, the scale of the damage is becoming increasingly visible. Waterlogged homes, damaged household belongings, and deteriorating sanitation conditions have added to the challenges confronting the affected communities.
