Assam: Football tournament turns violent in Silchar, leaving 20 injured

Violence erupted in Silchar, Assam, as supporters of a local football tournament came under attack on Wednesday night.

 

A group of unidentified miscreants pelted stones at a truck carrying players and fans of the Nazia Enterprise team from Lailapur, who were returning home after the second semi-final match of the Matribhumi Cup.

 

The incident occurred in the Bhaga Bazar area, where the attackers targeted the vehicle, striking the driver in the head. This caused the truck to lose control, resulting in injuries to over 20 people.

 

Local authorities report that two individuals are in critical condition and receiving urgent medical care.
