Former Congress leader Riyaz Uddin, accompanied by nearly a hundred party workers, formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during an election rally held at Dhumar Pathar, Bajali. The event saw the presence of senior cabinet minister Ranjit Kumar Dass.
Soon after his induction into the BJP, Uddin launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, branding it as a deeply corrupt organization where monetary influence overrides merit. Speaking to the media, he alleged that in the Congress setup, "Without money, there is no worth. Tickets are traded like fish in the market."
Uddin further leveled serious accusations against the district Congress president, claiming that he was asked to pay Rs 5 lakh in exchange for a Zila Parishad election ticket. Unable to meet the demand, he negotiated the amount down to Rs 2 lakh. However, he alleged that even after this settlement, the ticket was eventually handed over to another candidate who paid a higher sum.
