Assam: Former MLA Nabanita Handique escapes unhurt in Charaideo road accident
Former MLA Nabanita Handique narrowly escaped inhurt in a road accident on December 13, on the Naharali road near Rahan Shyamgaon Tiniali under Sapekhati Police Station in Charaideo district, Assam.
The accident occurred when Handique was travelling in her SUV from Naharali. At the same time, two youths riding a motorcycle from the Shyamgaon side attempted to enter the Naharali Road at high speed, leading to a collision with the vehicle.
Both the riders were injured in the impact. They have been identified as Indrajit Chettri and Ganesh Gurung.
Following the incident, the injured were rushed to the Charaideo District Hospital, where they were given first aid, and were later referred to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh, for further treatment.
Former MLA Nabanita Handique escaped unharmed, while police have initiated an investigation into the accident.
