A new political entity, the "Alternative Party of Bodoland", has been officially launched in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). The party has been established under the patronage of former leaders of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB).
Speaking at the launch, Anjali Daimari, the newly appointed president and chief patron, stated that the party was formed due to growing dissatisfaction over the incomplete implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord. She claimed that the agreement has not been enforced effectively, leaving many unresolved issues within the Bodo community.
The party has also announced its decision to contest the upcoming BTC elections, positioning itself as a strong alternative to the current administration.
Daimari criticized the BTC government, accusing it of failing to ensure justice and security for the Bodo people. She further alleged that the release of jailed NDFB members has been treated as a low-priority matter by the government, despite being a crucial issue for the community.
The formal announcement took place at an NDFB camp in Barbori, Mushalpur, where a 21-member committee was constituted. Key appointments include Pradip Kumar Brahma as administrative secretary and Jagadish Basumatary as organizational secretary.
