Assam: Four arrested in police crackdown on illegal gambling in Abhayapuri

Police in Abhayapuri carried out a crackdown on illegal gambling, arresting four individuals during a raid linked to activities organised around the Lungai Pahar Puja and Mahamela.
 

According to officials, a gambling racket had allegedly set up an illegal gambling operation in the area, drawing participants under the pretext of the local festivities. Acting on specific inputs, police conducted a raid and dismantled the setup.
 

The arrested individuals have been identified as Amir Hussain from Tilapara, Taher Ali from Dumuria Part I, Zahirul Islam from Tilapara, and Hashem Ali from Dumuria Part II.
 

During the operation, police seized cash amounting to Rs 46,130 along with several mobile phones, voter ID cards, ATM cards, wallets, and materials used for gambling, including dabbu, dice, and tokens.
 

Officials said further investigation is underway to identify and trace others involved in the illegal gambling network.
