Assam: Four killed after two motorcycles collide head-on in Mirza–Palashbari road
Four youths lost their lives following a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Mirza–Palashbari road under Palashbari in the early hours of Sunday, May 24.
The accident took place around 2 am near Bajrapara amid heavy rainfall. According to reports, five youths were travelling on the two motorcycles when the vehicles crashed into each other with force, throwing all the riders onto the road.
Police from Palashbari Police Station reached the spot soon after the incident and shifted the injured to Mirza hospital. Doctors declared three of them dead on arrival.
The deceased were identified as Jyoti Kalita from Majirgaon Baruapara, Nikhil Das from Rongamati Dokanipara and Chandan Jana, a resident of West Bengal.
Two others, Dipankar Kalita and Arnav Barman, were referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment after sustaining critical injuries.
One of the injured later died at the hospital on Sunday morning, taking the death toll to four.
The incident has triggered grief in the area, with residents mourning the deaths of the young victims.
