The families of two deceased government employees of Assam have levelled serious allegations against education official Milan Das, accusing him of continuous mental harassment that they claim directly contributed to the deaths of their loved ones.
The families of Manmath Das, a senior assistant from Jalaha in Baksa district, and Shailen Talukdar, another government employee, have come forward with emotional appeals for justice. Speaking to the media, the bereaved wives alleged that both men were subjected to relentless mental torture and threats from Milan Das, pushing them into psychological despair. In Manmath Das's case, the family claims that Das was driven to a state of distress which ultimately led to a fatal road accident.
According to the allegations, Milan Das not only created a hostile work environment but also issued repeated threats over the phone, especially to Manmath Das in the days leading up to his death. The families have demanded exemplary punishment, with some even calling for the death penalty, asserting that the gravity of psychological abuse warrants the severest legal consequences.
This development comes on the heels of another controversy involving the same official—the death of Bihali school teacher Mayarani Upadhyay, where Das’s name had also surfaced. The incident had already triggered widespread outrage among teaching professionals across Assam. With new victims stepping forward, the demand for accountability has only intensified.
