Assam: Goalpara man records video before committing suicide, blames woman for the extreme step

In a sensational incident a man in Goalpara district of Assam allegedly committed suicide on February 22 after allegedly being duped and mentally harassed by a couple.

The victim allegedly made a video in which he demanded justice from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma before committing suicide.

The tragic incident took place in Baguan area of Goalpara district. According to reports, the victim, Azizul Haque, was being blackmailed for some time by a regional councilor of the Panchayat in Goalpara and his wife who was a former president of the Nalanga Gaon Panchayat, over an objectionable video of the victim.

Haque, who was married and lived in Goalpara's Kamandanga village, had an extramarital affair with the former Gaon Panchayat president. The two accused had recorded an objectionable video of him in a vulnerable position with the woman. The video was then used by the couple to extort a significant sum of money from the victim.

The victim made the decision to kill himself because he was trapped and had nowhere else to go. But before that, he made a video in which he enumerated about the whole situation and asked for chief minister's help.

Later the victim can be heard saying, "Respected Assam CM, I wanted to narrate something to you" in the video. Sir, Dilowara Begum has been blackmailing me. She filmed a lengthy objectionable video and demanded Rs. 25 lakhs from me. Gulam Maula, a councilor, is also involved. I offered my property and all that to take care of them, however they actually needed more. They want to hold NRLM position in Goalpara, which my wife holds."
