A government employee from the Kaliabor Sub-Registrar’s Office was arrested on Saturday by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Branch while accepting a bribe on June 21.
The accused, identified as Adhir Das, was caught red-handed during a trap laid by the anti-corruption team. The operation was conducted at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Kaliabor following complaints of bribery and misconduct.
Officials from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Branch confirmed that the arrest was made as part of an ongoing crackdown on corruption within public service departments across the state. Sources indicated that Das had allegedly demanded money in exchange for processing official documents.
The Anti-Corruption Branch is continuing its investigation and has stated that further legal action will follow.
