Assam: Government school teacher accused of poisoning fish in Bongaigaon

Local residents of Rajhawa Village in Bongaigaon District have accused a teacher, Rafiqul Islam, of poisoning small fish and selling them in the market. 

According to reports, Islam allegedly mixed poison in the water where the fish were kept. The teacher of Jaraguri M.V. School allegedly poisoned the water and sold 2/3 quintals of fish in the market by mixing poison in the water. 

The incident came to light when villagers discovered the poisoned fish and became alarmed. Rafiqul Islam have buried small fish near the bill. Later the local people dug up the buried fish. The local people ate fish from this bill. After the teacher poisoned the bill, the local people got agitated and entered the school and informed that the teacher would be held accountable and legal action would be taken. 

Rafiqul Islam, who teaches at the Jaraguri MV School, is facing serious allegations of intentionally poisoning the fish for sale. It is reported that he used a small quantity of poison in the water tanks where the fish were being kept for sale. The poisoned fish, despite being small in size, were sold in the local market, raising concerns among consumers who unknowingly purchased them.

One of the local residents have informed, "4-5 people of them have been running illegal fish syndicates." "Yesterday I came in here and saw they were fishing after poisoning the pond. There are 4-5 people along with him"

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter. Villagers are demanding strict action against Rafiqul Islam for his alleged actions. The incident has caused distress among the community, as they are worried about the safety of the food they consume. Authorities have assured the residents that necessary legal actions will be taken against the accused teacher, and they are actively working to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
