Assam: Guardian Minister Ashwini Ray Sarkar’s first Bongaigaon visit highlights Koch Rajbongshi representation; promises development push
Newly appointed Guardian Minister of Bongaigaon district Ashwini Ray Sarkar made his first official visit to the district after taking charge, placing special emphasis on the concerns and political representation of the Koch Rajbongshi community.
On arrival, the minister visited the revered Bageshwari Temple, where he offered prayers for the welfare, peace and prosperity of the state and the district.
Speaking to the media, Sarkar reiterated his commitment to the overall development of Bongaigaon and said all sections of society would be taken along in the process of governance.
Highlighting the Koch Rajbongshi issue, he noted that five MLAs from the community are now represented in the Assam Legislative Assembly and said this stronger political presence would help address their long-pending demands more effectively.
The minister also conveyed greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing a historic tenure as the longest-serving Prime Minister of India.
The visit marked Sarkar’s first engagement in Bongaigaon after being appointed the district’s guardian minister.
