Assam: Hagrama Mohilary criticises rivals for vote-buying, says BPF poised for victory in Bodoland polls

Bodoland People's Front supremo Hagrama Mohilary launched an attack on rival parties on September 14, accusing them of 'vote-buying' while declaring his candidate's victory inevitable in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council elections.

Speaking at a packed rally in Rangachara village supporting BPF nominee Begum Akhtara Ahmed for the Mathanguri Council seat, Mohilary painted the contest as a battle between clean politics and corruption.

The former Bodoland Territorial Council chief executive accused both the United People's Party Liberal and the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to sway voters through monetary incentives, urging constituents to resist such tactics.

"Victory for Begum Akhtara Ahmed is 100 percent certain," Mohilary declared to enthusiastic supporters in Baksa district, expressing confidence that his party's plough symbol would soon govern the autonomous council again.

The BPF leader's most pointed criticism targeted current Kokrajhar MP Jayanta Basumatary of the UPPL, dismissing him with cutting remarks. "I don't even recognise him," Mohilary said, suggesting the UPPL's influence was waning dramatically.

“This time UPPL will be finished,” he said, rallying party workers and supporters.
