Assam: Hagrama Mohilary releases BPF’s vision document ahead of BTC polls, promises land rights, youth empowerment
The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Sunday, September 14 released its election manifesto for the forthcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls at the party’s central office in Kokrajhar. The manifesto was formally unveiled by BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, outlining a comprehensive set of commitments aimed at addressing long-standing issues of the region.
The manifesto highlights five major guarantees, beginning with a pledge to conduct a fresh land survey in the BTC region, in line with the provisions of the historic BTC Accord signed on February 10, 2003. The party also promised to grant legal land rights and pattas to all landless and patta-less, yet eligible and genuine individuals across all communities, referencing the 2005 electoral rolls as the basis for verification.
In a bid to tackle unemployment, the BPF has committed an annual financial package of ₹100 crore to support self-employment and empowerment initiatives for youths. Additionally, the manifesto ensures an annual allocation of Rs 10 crore for senior citizens and specially-abled individuals, and a ₹40 crore package for women empowerment, alongside ₹50 crore annually for economically weaker sections.
Beyond these five guarantees, the manifesto lists 98 other promises, ranging from developmental initiatives to welfare measures, which the party said are designed to instill hope and confidence among the people of the BTC region.
