Assam: Hagrama Mohilary says BPF to go solo in Lok Sabha polls, to win two seats

Bodoland People's Front chief Hagrama Mohilary today said that the party will go solo for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also exuded confidence that the BPF will win the two Lok Sabha seats of Kokrajhar and Darrang-Udalguri.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a public meeting, where over a hundred people joined the BPF, Mohilary said that the party will not form any alliance and will go solo in the elections. He also said that they are confident of winning the seats of Kokrajhar and Darrang-Udalguri.

"The BPF will not form any alliance with any other party and will fight on their own and win the two Lok Sabha seats of Darrang and Kokrajhar. From the picture that we are getting, it is certain that BPF will be winning both the seats," said Mohilary.

Speaking on the competition for the elections, Mohilary said that they are expecting contest from parties like the BJP, UPPL, Congress and Naba Sarania's GSP. However, he pointed that Congress won't be a strong force in the Kokrajhar seat.

"We have heard that BJP will not contest in Kokrajhar seat and that they will leave the seat for UPPL. There will be a triangular fight here between Hira Sarania, UPPL and BPF. Congress will also contest, but they will not be strong in the Kokrajhar seat. In the Darrang-Udalguri seat, there will be a triangular fight between the BJP, Congress and BPF. Nobody else is there," said Mohilary.
